Remembering a Summer Day
Shake out your warning
Like the girl
with shiny blonde hair
Silken on the breeze
Fighting the tangled interference
A toss
a shake
Fingers run through
Holding it aloft
strand by salty strand
Pulled tight against
her pounding head
Soft gentle hands
faintly bending
So strong and swift
Petting down all the stray fuzzy curls
to tie it together
With the sweetcorn yellow ribbon
That has left a pale tan line
on her wrist
Squinting into a distance
she will never catch up with
Licking the dirt away from fullest of young lips
Smile at the sky
before running away
